What is a Sectional garage door?

A sectional or panel lift garage door, is made from several sheets of panelling, connected by heavy-duty hinges. When raised, it slides up and above the storage area it protects and remains parallel to the ceiling. They are often low-profile and take up a space in your garage that would otherwise not have been used.

While more expensive than your classic roller door, the sectional door is highly preferred among residential buyers looking to purchase a more adaptable and low-maintenance model. We often recommend this design for its low repair costs – when damaged, owners are required to only replace or repair damaged panels, as opposed to the entire door, as is the case with the majority of roller doors.

Sectional doors are available in a variety of finishes to suit your design needs. Whether you are looking for an elegant look or something more traditional, we have just the style of garage door that will fit with your home’s décor.

Sectional Garage Doors are our most popular design amongst residential buyers for it’s custom looks, adaptability and low cost in maintenance & repairs. Check out some of our designs or try out our online visualiser tool.

What is a Roller Door?

A Roller door is made from a single pleated sheet of metal that, when raised, is furled into a cylinder that remains above the opening of the entryway. While not the most attractive design, we recognise that Roller doors are more often than not, the most cost-effective and economic choice when purchasing your garage door and should be regarded for their function and not aesthetic.

Popular in urban and commercial contexts, Roller doors suit metropolitan areas with it’s signature industrial look. Regardless of manufacturer, whether it is B&D, Centurion or Steeline, the majority of roller doors meet a uniform design, barely distinguishable from one another. While not as customisable as Sectional garage doors, your next roller door can come in whichever Colorbond style you prefer – allowing you to match your Roller door with it’s surrounding exterior.

While all of our roller door manufacturers provide a “standard” option, B&D has provided us access to their more expensive premium range “Roll-a-door” series, which is a heavy-duty, more durable design that is especially quieter than their base-level roller door.

Roller doors often range between being 1.2 – 5 meters in width by 0.9 – 5.2 meters in height – meaning they come in “single” and “double” door sizes. More often than not, when considering a motor for any, and notably most roller doors, the size and weight of the door will have a say in which motor you should consider – taking into account that a weaker motor will not suitably handle a heavier door.

What you should keep in mind about Roller doors

For ease-of-use and added safety precautions, roller doors can be equipped with an automatic roller door opener like that of the Merlin SilentDrive series, which features technology such as PE safety beams, or MyQ Technology that allows users to operate their doors from their smart phones, where ever they are.

Roller doors serve a basic function – to protect your storage area, shed, garage, warehouse or workplace from the elements – and from intruders. To avoid complication and to optimise the role it has in achieving this basic function, we recommend that you employ the assistance of a garage door specialist, both to install and maintain your door – an important step in keeping your warranty valid.

Here at Eden Roc Garage Doors, we offer our customers obligation-free quotes on all of our Roller Door products, as well as their installation, repair and maintenance.

Due to our wide range and their incredible adaptability, pinning down an individual garage door price for our custom products is not possible as the cost will always vary from case to case. This type of garage door does, for the most part, provide a unique look and service that allows residential properties to stand out from all others. This, however, comes at the cost of being far more expensive to buy and install than most other garage doors on the market. Custom Door prices will range from $4,000 to as high as $20,000 and will most certainly require specialist consultation and installation.

What is a Custom Door?

In a market saturated by “traditional” designs of Sectional & Roller garage door models, custom-designs are a speciality item that will bring a unique and personalised look to the front of your home. Whether it be with Ali Panelling, Poli-carbonate surfaces, real-timber, ali-wood or Kinetic Silver Pearl Frames – custom doors are individually manufactured according to your needs and are highly adaptable to the breadth of anyones imagination.

These custom doors are often produced with a more advanced engineering than sectional doors while still sharing many similarities, including an overhead rail-system, and a conceptually identical approach to the panel design. Custom doors, however, can be far heavier than your traditional sectional door and will require a more advanced “premium grade” sectional garage door opener such as the “Merlin Commander Ultimate” to meet its design specifications.

Insulated garage doors start from approximately $3,500 but can range up to $10,000 for the largest, most expensive options. To provide you with an accurate quote, your garage door supplier will need to know exactly which style of door you are looking to install as well as
the dimensions of the door you require.

What is an Insulated Garage Door?

Considering that many home owners and residents are now finding themselves utilising their garage spaces for more than just the storage of vehicles – Insulated garage doors have entered onto the market as a purpose-built or retro-fitted sectional garage door that is internally padded with a closed-cell thermoset polyisocyanurate foam core. This new addition helps dampen acoustics and reduce heat transmission in and out of your garage or storage area through an existing door.

Allowing these spaces to be transformed into more suitable live-in uses is a service that we provide whether it be the installation of insulated garage doors or the modification of applicable sectional garage doors with insulation materials. We highly recommend this service to those intending on using their garage as a home-gym or as a games room.

Here at Eden Roc Garage Doors, we offer our customers insulated doors from manufacturers such as Centurion, B&D and Insulated Garage Doors Perth. Due to the addition of extra material, we recommend that buyers consider heavy-duty Sectional Garage Door openers to pair with their Insulated Garage Doors, such as the Merlin Commander Range regardless of their current existing door opener.

A timber-look garage door for a residential home will cost between $2,500 and $5,000 depending upon the size of your door and the colour finish you choose.

What is a Timber-look door?

Timber-look garage doors are a sectional garage door which have the appearance of real timber. Despite their appearance, timber-look doors are made from Colorbond or Unicoat / LUX steel. They present the ‘best of both worlds’ with the beautiful aesthetic of wooden doors without carrying the price-tag and maintenance of ‘true timber doors’.

At Eden Roc Garage Doors we have the widest range of timber-look garage door styles and colours available in Perth. In addition to BlueScope’s Classic Cedar and Caoba colours with a maintenance-free finish that resists fading, we also offer a range of Unicoat / LUX timber-look doors to offer a more authentic and natural appearance. All Timber-look doors are extremely hardwearing and will look amazing for years to come.

Typically Timber-look garage doors range from being 1.5m–3m in height, and 2.5m–6.0m in width. If you require a larger garage door we would recommend you a variety of options that are available in our custom garage doors range as a way of achieving the same timber aesthetic – personalising a door to perfectly meet your specifications.
